Pincho Factory...YES!

So....Last night unfortunately we had to take our son to the Miami Children's Hospital ER after he banged his poor little head on the wall. Thank God everything was OK with him and we were sent home...BUT, we left at 11pm with a hunger that could only be satisfied with the best, that is PINCHO FACTORY.  Our friend Nedal Ahmad is part owner and a very amazing chef! Chef Pepin is constantly creating and inventing new and FUN burgers.  When we arrived to Pincho hubby ran inside to order fast (they close at midnight) and comes out very excited. He continues to explain how he just ordered the Texan Burger...wait, let me correct that a DOUBLE Texan Burger...See Below to compare.

Single Texan Burger

Double Texan Burger

Yes! that's Texan Toast in place of burger buns & Yes! that was his dinner. 'Nuff said? LOL Pincho Factory is not only burgers though, they are masters at Pincho's (of course), hot dogs, rice bowls, wraps and all things meat/chicken...they also have a delicious FRIED CHEESECAKE.  And to drink you have the choice of  a typical fountain drink, water, wine or a beer (see below).

Point of today's blog: Go to Pincho Factory if you haven't yet. You will become a fan by the time you walk out!

Japans massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake INSANE.

Early this morning I woke up to give my 5 month old his little snack bottle and after, couldn't fall asleep.  I reached for my phone and opened up facebook when all I started to see were posts about Japan and this horrifying earthquake that just hit but quickly fell back asleep. This morning I put on Channel 7 and watched the news, like always and again got a better understanding Being from Miami,  I don't know what that must be like or how the families of those in Japan are feeling right now, but I could only imagine and I'm devastated.  The earthquake and the tsunami that is on its way to Alaska, Hawaii and California is terrifying.  My prayers are with those passed, injured and ofcorse the families who are going through a very tough time right now.  Google has launched a person finder to help this situation just a bit.  In addition to that here are some key notes given by MSN.com.

Key details:
  • Police say 200 to 300 bodies found in northeastern coastal area
  • Coast guard searching for ship carrying 80 workers
  • Fires triggered by the quake burn up and down the coast
  • 'Nuclear emergency' declared after problems at Japanese plant
  • Evacuation order issued to thousands near different nuclear plant
  • Japanese PM cites 'major damage'; calls for 'spirit of fraternity'
  • First tsunami waves hit Hawaii, sweep though islands
  • California emergency agency spokesman says evacuations 'very possible'
Our prayers go out to all those in Japan and everyone who has been affected by this horrifying disaster!  Please make it a priority to help in any which way possible, donating goods or money to those in desperate need!

Here is the link for the Red Cross where you can donate today, just select the option for disaster relief.

Again, we continue to pray for these victims.

Primary Flight interprets the designs and concepts of more than 50 local and international artists in Para Mi Gente, an exhibition inspired by the Chicha poster art of Peru. Translated as “for the people,” Para Mi Gente merges traditional Peruvian propaganda, contemporary art and graphic- driven installations. Participating artists such as Shepard Fairey, Tristan Eaton and gallerist Fred Snitzer have provided Primary Flight with vector images that will be cut into stencils and collaged together to generate one, fluid piece. This exhibition is co-curated by Books IIII Bischof, Typoe and Chris Oh.
Slated to coincide with Second Saturday Art Walk on March 12, 2011, Para Mi Gente is Primary Flight’s sophomore exhibition at its 4,500-square-foot Primary Projects space (Atrium Building, 4141 Northeast Second Avenue, Suite 104, Design District). The exhibit is free and open to the public, and will be on view through April 2011. For more information please call Chris Oh at 954.801.3945, email info@primaryflight.com or visit www.primaryflight.com.
“Chicha is one of the most basic yet effective propaganda styles and has emerged as an art form in its own right,” said Books Bischof, principal of Primary Flight / Primary Projects. “So much of popular culture involves integrating text and altering typography into our overall brand aesthetic. Para Mi Gente allows us to take control of our environment while we work with tools provided by contemporary artists.”
The Chicha poster art movement has largely been attributed to the Urcuhuaranga family in Lima, Peru. Unable to afford the cost of printing their own posters to promote local Chicha bands, father and sons conceived a homegrown press as a do-it-yourself solution. Vibrant embroideries and Huanca textiles native to the Andean region inspired their fluorescent palette, while distorted fonts and logos emerged to fit increasingly more information onto the posters.
The visual output of Chicha art resembles a burst of luminescent lettering, mismatched in size, style and proportion– a vibrant puzzle of information. Since its inception in the 1990’s, the genre has grown exponentially to reflect popular culture as a leading marketing tool publicizing the now prevalent Cumbia music scene.
Para Mi Gente will be an installation of hundreds of artist-designed logos, texts and icons, collectively arranged and curated in the Chicha aesthetic.  As the street mural movement rapidly evolves in Miami under the wing of Primary Flight, the art collective looks toward grassroots Peruvian propaganda to inspire its very own fine arts exhibit.
